Leading television personality Soy Sopheap is back at his network, saying his recent dispute with management has been resolved

STORM IN A TEACUP

Last week, CTN News Editor Som Chhaya said the station was planning to focus more on "soft news instead of hot and sensitive news", and said Soy Sopheap had used CTN as an opportunity to attack individuals with harsh language.

JUST one week after he resigned, much-loved TV anchorman Soy Sopheap is back on air, hosting Cambodian Television Network (CTN)'s popular news show New Day from CTN.

"Now I've returned to CTN and I feel like I've gone back to my great family," he told the Post Monday.
After returning from reporting on the front line in Preah Vihear last week, where he was covering the border dispute with Thailand, Soy Sopheap resigned from CTN following a dispute with management over his aggressive journalistic style.

But now he says he considers everything that took place last week "a small storm" that has quickly disappeared.
Soy Sopheap confirmed he will be hosting both the morning news show and a weekly broadcast called Thursday Conversation, in which he offers analysis and commentary on key news events, particularly politics.

"I regard both Som Chhaya and Kith Meng as my good brothers," he said, referring to CTN's news editor and chairman.
Som Chhaya said by phone Tuesday that he welcomed Soy Sopheap back as "a very important human resource" at CTN.

Bird without a wing

He said that the network had realised that without Soy Sopheap, much of the charm of the news show had vanished and the news team had felt like it had "lost one of its wings".

Apart from his work as journalist, Soy Sopheap is also known to be a negotiator between senior politicians.

I need him back to CTN,because we want him to send all news from Cambodia country. If don't have news in the CTN we will cancelle service with CTN. We serviced with CTN,because CTN has a good news from Cambodia than another news station.
