Could you cycle from Vietnam to Cambodia?

Wednesday 22nd October 2008

TWO leading cancer charities are calling for people to jump into the saddle for the challenge of a lifetime, cycling from Vietnam to Cambodia.

The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care have teamed up to organise fundraiser for anyone wanting an unforgettable experience and a physical challenge.

Places are still available and participants can raise money for either charity.

One person is diagnosed with breast cancer every 11 minutes and one man dies of prostate cancer every hour.

The money raised from the challenge will enable the charities to help support people diagnosed with these diseases.

The challenge will see participants cycling for five days from Vietnam to Cambodia, past paddy fields and local farmlands, and through villages on the way to the spectacular Temples of Angkor Wat. The challenge will allow participants to experience traditional life, and pass through some of the most awe-inspiring scenery of South East Asia.

The trip departs on Sunday, March 1 returning on Tuesday, March 10.

One of the organisers, Ellie Sleeman, said: “Some people choose to join us because they have been touched by breast cancer or prostate cancer. Others simply want to raise money for a good cause while getting fit and having fun. Either way, it’s a trip of a lifetime and one you will remember for many years to come.”

If you would like to cycle in support of people with breast cancer call Claire O’Neill on 0845-0920805 or email challenges@breastcancercare.org.uk To fundraise for The Prostate Cancer Charity call Natasha Clokey on 020-8222-7650 or email events@prostate-cancer.org.uk.

Each participant must commit to raise at least £3,250 to take part.
