I was surprised by your recent negative editorial concerning the Educate Cambodia project at Milton Area School District.
I felt the students' efforts to raise money to build a school in Cambodia was a very positive lesson in reaching out to those less fortunate. Not only did the high school students heading the project benefit, but so did many of the district's students who participated.
My granddaughter's first-grade class became involved and showed such pride in their accomplishments in helping children halfway around the globe. What a valuable lifelong lesson for them in sharing and caring!
Once again, the Milton community has rallied in support, as well.
How exciting to think that a delegation of students and teachers representing the school district and community could actually attend the dedication ceremony of the Milton School in Cambodia. This is all so positive, not negative, as you imply.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness." Congratulations to Milton students, teachers, and the entire community for "lighting a candle" in Cambodia. Perhaps it will inspire others to do the same.
Nancy Slease,
Milton
