Nagoya, May 13, 2008 (Jiji Press) - Toyota Tsusho Corp. said Tuesday it will dissolve a Cambodian joint venture that imports parts for Yamaha Motor Co. motorcycles on Aug. 31.
Toyota Tsusho, a trader affiliated with Toyota Motor Corp. , decided on the move due to the sluggish performance of the Phnom Penh-based joint company, called Asia Motors Co.
Asia Motors, owned 49 pct by Toyota Tsusho, also assembles motorcycles for sale in Cambodia on behalf of Yamaha Motor. The company has continued running losses since its establishment in September 2006.
The Cambodian motorcycle market is dominated by Honda Motor Co. and Suzuki Motor Corp. Yamaha Motor has a very small market share in the country.
