A Cambodian-registered vessel has been impounded by Customs at Cork Port after a quantity of contraband cigarettes were found on board.
The Ukrainian crew of the Defender, which is carrying thousands of tons of timber from Latvia, are also allegedly being paid less than €1-an-hour.
Dockers at the port have refused to offload the cargo as a result.
A representative from the company that owns the vessel is expected to travel to Cork to address the complaints.
