Hun Sen Says Line Is Open to Thaksin

Why did Hun Sen talk so openly and publicly about being a good friend of Thaksin now that he has returned home to Thailand? Why was he so silent when Thaksin remained in exile? Is it because he wanted to let Thaksin know that: "I am your good friend and please come to my aid if and when I am in trouble?" Please remember that Hun Sen and his government praised the coup leaders and recognised the coup immediately. Don't be fooled by Hun Sen's deceitful praises.

Hun Sen has maintained communication with former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who returned to his native country Thursday after 18 months in exile.
"Since the coup toppled him, phones calls were exchanged," Hun Sen said Thursday. "It's very normal."
He called Thaksin an old friend, and deflected reports Thaksin had come to visit him before his return to Thailand.
If he were to come, Hun Sen said, "I would receive him without keeping it silent."
