A NRP official from Banteay Meanchey province indicated that one NRP party sign was stolen and torched down in Thmar Puok district, Banteay Meanchey province, by an anonymous person, in the evening of 19 January. Poat Kea, a NRP district representative, accused this action as being a threat against his party in the district. Poat Kea said that the NRP sign was erected only one day earlier, and it was immediately destroyed. Muth Chantha, NRP spokesman, told RFA that, at the approach of the election season, threats against his party are mounting up also, some of these took place in Kandal, Kampot, and Banteay Meanchey for example. Muth Chantha strongly condemned the action taken to destroy his party sign.
