With the fast approaching campaign for the upcoming 2008 general election, Joseph Mussomeli, US Ambassador to Cambodia, hopes that Prince Ranariddh, NRP president, will be able to return home to participate in the general election which will take place on 27 July 2008.The US ambassador expressed his hope during the inauguration of the American Corner Cambodia center, in the afternoon of 12 December 2007.Ambassador Mussomeli said that it is an urgent matter for us to think about whether Prince Ranariddh should return to participate in the general election or not, however, he hopes that the prince will return to participate in this upcoming election.Mussomeli said: “I have hope that there will be some resolution to allow Prince Ranariddh to return to Cambodia to participate in the upcoming general election.”Mussomeli added: “Regardless of whether the prince returns or not to participate in this upcoming election, this election will take place in peace and order and without violence.”
