New Delhi, Nov 30 (ANI): The Union Cabinet today approved the signing of extradition agreements with Cambodia and Egypt, and another on visa exemption with Serbia.
The Cabinet today approved the signing of agreement with Cambodia on foreign convicted prisoners to be transferred to their home countries and prisoners of Indian origin to be brought back to serve the remaining part of their sentences.
The decision would enable the prisoners to be near their families and would help in the process of their social rehabilitation.
The Cabinet also gave its approval for signing of extradition treaty between India and Egypt and for ratification thereof.
The treaty would provide a legal framework for seeking extradition of terrorists, economic offenders, and other criminals from and to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Besides, the Cabinet gave its ex-post-facto approval to the agreement signed on September 17, 2007 between India and Serbia on exemption from visa requirement for the holders of diplomatic and official passports for its implementation.
The decision will promote the bilateral relations and visa-free entry, transit and stay for up to ninety days for Indian diplomatic and official passport holders in the territory of Serbia. (ANI)
