By Vong Dara, VOA Khmer Original report from Siem Reap.30 November 2007
Officials from Cambodia and Thailand finished two days of meetings in Siem Reap Friday over continuing problems for migrant workers.
Officials from the ministries of Labor sought ways to issue identification cards to workers who cross the porous border between the neighbors, said Seng Sakada, director-general of the Ministry of Labor.
"This morning Thailand allowed us to proceed with identifying and issuing identification cards for our illegal migrant workers through June 30," he said, adding that some illegal workers in Thailand will have to return to Cambodia.
"We are going to create a joint committee to discuss and seek strategies to get them home," Seng Sakada said.
