Police
from Phnom Penh’s anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection office
sent a Vietnamese woman to municipal court yesterday on charges of
pimping nine other Vietnamese women, six of them under 17 years old.
Keo
Thea, the office’s director, said that Rin Thiyong, 31, confined the
nine victims in a house and forced them to have sex with customers.
“We investigated this case for nearly three months before Friday’s arrest,” he said.
If convicted, she will face a five to eight year sentence.
The
anti-human trafficking office also sent two Vietnamese pimps to
investigation by municipal police yesterday following their arrest while
allegedly bringing two girls to customers at a Phnom Penh hotel on
Friday.
“We found four girls prepared to offer sexual services
already at the hotel,” Ten Borany, deputy director of the Mistry of
Interior’s anti-human trafficking department, said.
The two suspects, Chum Sreymuch, 28, and Tith Hun, 47, admitted that they had worked as procurers twice this year, he said.
