The commander of Mr. Chea Sim's bodyguard unit has been arrested along with 3 of his subordinates on the morning of Saturday on charges of weapons possessions.
Gen. Sao Sokha, commander of military police, said Gen. Chhoeun Chanthorn, alias Mao, had been stripped of his position as commander of Mr. Chea Sim's bodyguard unit and arrested on charges of illegal possessions of weapons, drug dealing, breach of trust and for defrauding Mr. Chea Sim.
However, Mr. Ya Kim Ee, commander of Phnom Penh's military police, did not say of the reasons for Chhoeun Chanthorn's arrest, he only said that the arrest was carried out after they received an arrest warrant from the court.
Other sources said the arrest of Gen. Chhoeun Chanthorn was made immediately after Prime Minister Hun Sen signed a sub-decree to sack him as commander of Mr. Chea Sim's bodyguard unit and instead appointed Gen. Yim Leang to lead Mr. Chea Sim's bodyguard unit in his place.
Other sources said that the sacking of Gen. Chhoeun Chanthorn and the appointment of Gen. Yim Leang was done by the request of Mr. Chea Sim.
However, other analysts said that the sacking of Mr. Chea Sim's chief bodyguard is a result of a long rivalry between Mr. Chea Sim, who is the president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party, and Prime Minister Hun Sen who is the vice president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party. Mr. Chea Sim's powers, and that of his brothers-in-law's, Interior Minister Sar Kheng and Party Secretary-General Say Chhum, have been weakened significantly after their supporters, like Mr. Sin Song, Sin Sin and Ke Kimyan had been marginalised and subsequently sacked by Mr. Hun Sen from all powerful positions within the army, police and within the government. Early this year, many of Mr. Chea Sim's loyalists like Hun Hean and Moek Dara were sacked, arrested and jailed on unscrupulous charges.

My friend who new this Gen. Mao said he can't even read Khmer probably and certainly can't read the map. But what we see here is Hun Sen is eating Chea Sim alive. Yes, it is peal si peal- evil eats evil. Before, they killed the oppositions like Rainsy people, Ranariddh people, but now they finished all of them, so they are now turning on each other. Hun Sen it trying to kill Chea Sim's people in the open, but I bet Chea Sim's people are plotting behind to kill Hun Sen. Just wait and see, Hun Sen will one day die at the hand of his internal enemies because he made too many enemies inside his party.
There is no permanent friend or enemy. well, well, we shall see more. Only time can tell if it is a trap or real power struggle. people should stay away from Chea Sim to avoid implications.
11:26 AM, that is true. Now, all people who associate with Chea Sim, except his relatives and good friends, will wash their hands off and walk away from Chea Sim to avoid being implicated. But, I think Hun Sen can't sleep at night or too scared to go anywhere without being surrounded by hundreds of bodyguards. But Hun Sen should look at the fate of other dictators like Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Suharto, Marcos, Ceaucescu of Romania. They were very strong but still they were deposed and most were executed.
