More than a dozen garment workers were injured when a vehicle carrying about 50 was rear-ended by a cement truck in Kandal province on Saturday.

Kandal Stung district police chief Yong Kong said four of the injured were taken to the Preah Kossamak Hospital for treatment before being released later that day and the truck’s driver, Ourn Sambat, 21, would be charged with reckless driving. However, Kong said the “accident was not actually that serious”.

Meanwhile, in Kratie province, the driver of a truck transporting glue from Vietnam to Phnom Penh for the Hak Mai Da Company died after his truck over-turned and burst into flames on Saturday.

Snuol district traffic police chief Keo Vy said the company had paid compensation to the family of the driver, Soung Kim Sean, from Sihanoukville, and was expected to pay for damage to the road as well.
