Chhun Sopheaktra, 13, a lower secondary school Grade 8 student from eastern Prey Veng province, has traveled to Amsterdam, the Netherlands this week as a nominee for an international video award, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said in a statement on Saturday.
UNICEF and the OneMinutesJr Foundation announced that Sopheaktra was selected as one of fifteen finalists from over 315 entries eligible for competition to identify the best one minute video made by a young filmmaker under the age of 20 in the past year. The awards will be announced at a ceremony in Amsterdam on November 30.
According to the statement, Sopheaktra's film, 'Liquid Changes Life' entered in the category: One Minute of Freedom. Other nominees for the award in this category are from Vietnam, Libya, Ukraine and Armenia. The winner will receive an HD Flip Camera.
Sopheaktra's nomination comes following his participation in November last year in a five-day workshop in Prey Veng province for underprivileged Cambodian teenagers, it said, adding that the workshop, hosted by UNICEF and Save the Children, and conducted by the OneMinutesJr Foundation taught the teens how to develop a story, and direct, shoot and edit a 60-second video about their lives, interests and opinions.
Videos produced entered into the global OneMinutesJr competition.
Asked about his award nomination Sopheaktra, who traveled overseas for the first time, said: "I am very excited... My mother is helping me to pack my luggage and prepare my clothes and shoes for the trip."
While in the Netherlands, Sopheaktra will present the video he produced in Cambodia to other nominees from around the world and participate in a OneMinutesJr video master class, which is being held in association with the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).
Sopheaktra's father Chhun Hay, who accompanied him to the awards said: "I am proud of my son because he was selected for the award. I am very happy because he is not only representing children in Prey Veng province, but also all Cambodian children."
The OneMinutesJr is an international arts-based initiative started in 2002 by UNICEF, the One Minutes Foundation and The European Cultural Foundation to give young people the opportunity to work in a team and share their ideas and viewpoints.កុមារាម្នាក់មកពីខេត្តព្រៃវែង ទទួលពានរង្វាន់កុមារផលិតវីដេអូអន្តរជាតិល្អជាងគេ

សេចក្តីប្រកាសព័ត៌មានរបស់យូនីសេហ្វ ឲ្យដឹងថា កុមារម្នាក់នោះ ឈ្មោះ ឈុន សុភ័ក្ត្រា ជាសិស្សរៀនថ្នាក់ទី៨ មកពីខេត្តព្រៃវែង។ សុភ័ក្ត្រា គ្រោងនឹងធ្វើដំណើរទៅទីក្រុងអាំស្ទ័រដាម(Amsterdam)នៃប្រទេសហូឡង់ក្នុងសប្ដាហ៍នេះ ដើម្បីទទួលរង្វាន់កុមារផលិតវីដេអូអន្តរជាតិ។អង្គការយូនីសេហ្វ បានប្រកាសថា ឈុន សុភ័ក្ត្រា ត្រូវបានជ្រើសរើសយ៉ាងសុក្រិតក្នុង ចំណោមកុមារវ័យ១៥ឆ្នាំ ប្រមាណជា៣១៥នាក់។ ពានរង្វាន់នេះ នឹងប្រកាសក្នុងកម្មវិធីមួយនៅថ្ងៃទី៣០ខែ វិច្ឆិកានេះ។
វីដេអូភាពយន្ដរបស់សុភ័ក្ត្រា មានចំណងជើងថា(ទឹកផ្លាស់ប្ដូរជីវិត)«Liquid Changes Life»ត្រូវបានដាក់ចូលរួមប្រកួតជាមួយរឿងដែលមានចំណងជើងថា(មួយនាទីនៃសន្ដិភាព)«One Minute of Freedom» និងរឿងផ្សេងទៀតមកពីប្រទេសវៀតណាម Libya Ukraine និង Armenia។ អ្នកឈ្នះ នឹងទទួលបានHD Flip Camera មួយ។
សុភ័ក្ត្រា បានគោរពតាមលក្ខខណ្ឌនៃការចូលរួម ដោយចាប់ផ្ដើមផលិតវីដេអូ តាំងពីខែវិច្ឆិកា ឆ្នាំ២០១២។ ភាពយន្តរបស់សុភ័ក្ត្រា ដែលមានរយៈពេល១នាទីនេះ និយាយពីកុមាររស់នៅក្នុងជីវភាពខ្វះខាតនៅកម្ពុជាក្រោមអាយុ១២១៧ឆ្នាំ ក្រោមការៀបចំឧបត្ថម្ភដោយអង្គការយូនីសេហ្វ និងSave the Cambodia។
នៅក្នុងសេចក្តីប្រកាសព័ត៌មាន សុភ័ក្ត្រា បាននិយាយថា៖«.....ខ្ញុំមានអារម្មណ៍រំភើបខ្លាំងណាស់ ម្ដាយរបស់ខ្ញុំកំពុងជួយរៀបចំឥវ៉ាន់ ខោអាវ ស្បែកជើងឲ្យខ្ញុំ ព្រោះនៅប្រទេសគេត្រជាក់ណាស់ ខ្ញុំរៀបចំរួចរាល់ ហើយ និងមិត្តភត្តិរួមថ្នាក់មានមោទនភាពណាស់ចំពោះខ្ញុំ»។
