Cambodian leaders expressed satisfactions over the country's good relations with China over the past 55 years in their letters to Chinese leaders on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Cambodia-China diplomatic ties.

The ties between the two countries, cherished and nurtured by Cambodia's late King Father Norodom Sihanouk and the eminent Chinese leaders in 1958, have been profoundly strengthened and developed day by day, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni said in a royal message to Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was released to the media on Thursday.

"It is quite satisfying to observe that our two nations have made significant progress in our joint endeavors to greatly promote cooperation in all fields," Sihamoni said.

"Most importantly, the relations of our two countries have been upgraded to the level of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation," he added.

He said he was very pleased to see the frequent exchanges of high-level visits at all levels between the two nations, in particular, the state visits of former Chinese President Hu Jintao to Cambodia in 2012 and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to China in 2013.

"The visits have been the excellent boost to our traditional friendship and cooperation, bringing mutual benefits to both of our two nations," the king said.

He expressed the confidence that, in the years ahead, the Cambodia-China ties would be fostered stronger in the spirits of solidarity, close friendship and dynamic cooperation.

The king also invited Xi to visit Cambodia at a time convenient to him.

In a letter to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that over the past 55 years, he has witnessed with satisfaction the vigorous growth of bilateral cooperation in all fields.

"With the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between our two countries, I am confident that the remarkable relationship that has flourished will continue to grow in the years ahead," he said in the message dated July 12.

He also invited Li to visit Cambodia at an appropriate time.

Meanwhile, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong also wrote a letter to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, saying that the close bonds of traditional friendship between Cambodia and China are growing stronger day by day.

"I am strongly confident that the celebration of the 55th anniversary of our diplomatic ties and the Cambodia-China Year of Friendship 2013 will bring about more progress and prosperity to our two peoples and countries," he said.
